Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, Wrexham

The dramatic Aqueduct carrying the Llangollen canal over the river Dee is a major visitor attraction, and features in a variety of tourist literature across the area. But there was no co-ordination or consistency on the use of brands, images or words.

Hotrod was engaged by a consortium of local stakeholders to devise a branding strategy and Design Toolkit that could be deployed across all sites and publications to create a coherent visual identity.

Caledonian Park, Islington, London

In June, Hotrod will complete the preparation of an HLF bid to re-engage the local community with this Park and Clock Tower in north London.

The aim of the project is to encourage more locals to visit the Park and enjoy its history. The Park has seen many uses over the centuries, ranging from 18th century sports ground to cattle market to wartime depot, and is fondly remembered by its long-term residents. However, many of Islington’s non-native born residents know nothing of this background.

The Great Map of Wales

As part of a suite of new visitor interpretation at Pembroke Castle in Pembrokeshire, Hotrod is creating The Great Map of Wales to let visitors take a walk through medieval history. The painted map covers over 1000m2 and shows the principal castles of the native Welsh princes, the invading Norman lords, and the Anglo-Norman kings who eventually conquered the territory. The design has a very medieval feel, with decorative details of chain-mailed soldiers, fire-breathing dragons a huge sea serpent crushing a ship. … SEE MORE

The Trust which owns the site is keen to replicate our success at nearby St Davids Bishops Palace, which now needs a bigger car park for its visitors! Our new interactive giant map at Pembroke Castle is nearly finished – the completed interpretation project will open at the castle at the end of this month. With a mix of new digital media, audio tour and other interpretation, this will be a ground breaking project for Pembroke Castle.
