Corby Heritage Centre
Client: Corby Borough Council
Goal: Express the soul of a town that had lost its physical heritage.
Delivery: We were appointed by the town council to fulfil a difficult brief – create a heritage museum with no real objects about a new town with no real landmarks, while spending no real money. In place of traditional displays, we went deep into the community to gather local opinions on what made Corby special, and turned these verbatim and authentic views into the centrepiece of the Heritage Centre. Visitors saw how the down-to-earth pragmatism and determination of the townsfolk encapsulated the spirit of the place better than any object or history lesson could have done in its place.
Result: An entirely genuine opportunity for a community to talk about its own history, aspirations and fears across generations, for less than the cost of a luxury car.
