Our Travelling Exhibition Reaches The Final Locations

This week, the Know Your Place touring exhibit reached its final destinations – shown here in Salisbury Cathedral.

We had our problem-solving hats on for this project – how to make a digital touring exhibition that could fit into twelve different venues and still look fabulous whatever the lighting conditions.

After several rounds of sketches, site visits and costings from our amazing suppliers, we had a solution. A graphic print skin around a timber frame, internally lit by four powerful LED lights…it doesn’t sound much, but it looks amazing and can be brought onto site and be up and running in under an hour. The warm, glowing cube takes possession of any space it occupies, and draws visitors to walk around it and explore.

Equally amazing is the content. We worked with 15 archives to create stories based on film, images and oral history, giving a local view of the landmarks and events in the West Country. Visitors can browse the stories on their own smartphones (see www.kypexplore.com) or on touchscreen plinths built into the exhibit. They can also contribute their own memories for inclusion, building up a body of previously unknown stories over the project lifetime.
